Obituary for John F Barton

John F  Barton
John F. “Jack” Barton, 80, of Dubuque died Friday, September 15, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Parish-Sacred Heart Church, where visitation will be held Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Dubuque Post 6.
Jack was born October 1, 1936 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Clarence and Helen (Mueller) Barton. After graduating from Loras Academy in 1954, he served in the US Army. Upon his return, he attended and graduated from Loras College.
He worked as a salesman for Flexsteel from 1964 until his retirement in 2001.
Jack was an avid bowler, golfer and Cubs fan. He enjoyed poetry and was a volunteer with Hospice of Dubuque and Meals on Wheels. He was also an active member of the Dubuque Eagles Club.
He is survived by his special friend, Doris Churchill of Dubuque; children, Emily (Marty) Lambe of Pekin, IL and their children, Andrew, Allison and Devin; Nick (Shauna) Barton of Maquoketa and their children, Cole and Anna; and Steve Barton of Dubuque; his former spouse, Elaine Barton of Dubuque; a sister, Mary Ann Barton of Dubuque and a niece, Beth Weiland of Dubuque and her children, Matt and Kayley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Kay Frohs.
The Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
