James J  Waldbillig
James (Jim) J. Waldbillig, 75, of Dubuque, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at UnityPoint Health, Finley Hospital.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m., Friday, September 15 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road. Msrg. James Miller will officiate. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday and from 11-11:45 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, immediately following the visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, where committal services will be held and Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Post 6.

Jim was born on September 20, 1941 in Dubuque, the son of Raymond A. and Eileen F. (Sloan) Waldbillig. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1959. Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy, serving with the Patrol Squad Fifty-Six stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. His military career included ratings as a Builder in the Navy Seabees and as a Recruiter stationed at the United States Naval Reserve Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

He married JoAnn Catherine Link on August 27, 1960. She preceded him in death on February 17, 1988.

Jim was employed at Jackson Tuckpointing for many years, where he developed many close friendships. He enjoyed listening to music and playing the guitar. He was a skilled target shooter and liked being outdoors. He was devoted to his family and his 2 dogs, Coco and Maya.

He is survived by his children, James Waldbillig Jr., and Lauri Waldbillig, both of Dubuque, and Jeffrey (Polly) Waldbillig of Rochester, MN.; grandchildren, Eric, Regina and Luke Waldbillig of MN., and Debbie Walczyk of CO.; siblings, Sandra (Robert) Smith, of Dubuque, Nancy Sannito, of IL., and Kathy (Ken) Manahl, of AZ.; two nieces and many nephews; and his close friends Jack (Corrine) Schwartz, Dick (Charlene) Dunwoody, Bill (Pat)Sweeney and Tara Beckett.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond John and daughter, Cindy; his former wife, Mary Ann M. Duschen- Waldbillig; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Sannito.
A James Waldbillig Memorial Fund has been established.
