June E. Strueber (Stern) Dinneen Pausch, 90, died peacefully at home Monday, September 4, 2017.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Egelhof, Siegert, Caper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Church of The Resurrection with Rev. Joseph Hauer officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
June was born in Staten Island in NYC on June 23, 1927 and was raised in the loving foster family of Pauline, Morris and Charlotte Brode.
She graduated from LA City College with an AA degree, Cal State, Los Angeles with a BA degree, and University of Sarasota with a PHD.
June's first love was the theater and had the honor of being chosen as director/actor Ida Lupino's “NEW FIND” of 1953. She also loved learning and chose teaching as her career. June was chosen “Teacher of the Month” and “Teacher of the Year” at Palm Springs High School, Palm Springs, CA, taught Speech/Drama at Coachello Valley Joint United School District, CA, English and Advanced Placement English, at Palm Springs High School, Palm Springs, CA.
June was elected to the Dubuque Community School Bd. (1982-1988). She helped to bring computers and Advanced Placement; English in Dubuque High Schools.
She was a member of SAG, AAUW, CA., Retired Teachers Assoc., AARP, Dubuque Families in Action, served on the first Board of the Substance Abuse Center, served on the Board of MADD and Stone Ridge Condominium Association, was a member of the League of Women Voters, the Dubuque Symphony and the Dubuque Golf and Country Club.
June is survived by her son Stephen L. (Edie) Dinneen; stepchildren David F. (Pam) Strueber, Nancy A. (Peter) Citrone, Thomas G. (Denise) Strueber, Jean M. (Mark) Weber, Richard C. (Marianne) Strueber; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence L. Dinneen, her infant daughter Laurie Anne Dinneen and her husband, Paul F. Strueber.
The family wishes to thank the staff of No Place Like Home and Hospice West of Dubuque for their exceptional care of June during her illness.
