Obituary for Wilma M Craff (Osing)

Wilma M Craff (Osing)
Madeline Craff, 89, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Luther Manor.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 6, at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road where visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Madeline was born on February 5, 1928, to August and Rose Marie (Pflanz) Osing in Missouri. She married George Craff on February 10, 1950, in Yuma, Arizona. Together they were married for 54 wonderful years and Maddy devoted her life to raising her three sons. Her husband and her sons were her life. So many stories she had shared with family, friends, others and especially the staff at Luther Manor. Her favorite memory and a much repeated story was when her 2 older sons, Rich and Ron, put her on top of the refrigerator. Of course Maddy being a tiny woman stayed on that refrigerator for some time before finding a way down. Once she encountered her sons all she could do was giggle and laugh at them. She told another story of her son Rob, picking her up taking off her slippers, getting them wet and putting them in the freezer and of course offering them back to her wear.

She was a sweet, kind, and gentle woman, who never missed telling a good story or smiling at a baby. She made the world a better place through her volunteer work and exceptional spirit. All of the many places she volunteered would look forward to her smiling face and tender personality when they saw her. Her thoughts were never of herself but how she could bring a little happiness to someone’s day.
She always had a puzzle to work on and a crocheting or quilting project. She made sure that each of her sons and their wives received a handmade “Madeline Craff” quilt. In her later years Christmas was a special time to her since most of her children would return home when they could to celebrate with her. This warmed her heart since she loved them so.

Survivors include her sons, Richard (Mary) Craff of Arkansas, Ron (Ellen) Craff of Dubuque, and Robert (Mary) Craff of New Mexico. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kathryn (Thomas) Spencer, Eric Craff, Jessica and Jared Konrardy, and McKenna, Abigail, and Alexander Craff, along with three great grandchildren, Jaxson Spencer, Kalie and Kaiser Konrardy. She is also survived by her loving brother, Charles Osing. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, and her sister, Maxine (Cleo) Thomas.

The family would like to thank Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent care.
