Obituary for Calvin R Folman

Calvin R Folman
Calvin Richard Folman was born on May 28, 1977, in West Allis, Wis. He left us far too soon after his 40th birthday, on June 29, 2017.
Cal grew up in Dubuque and loved his “hometown.” He had many friends and seemed to know everyone wherever he went. He worked for many years as a skilled carpenter and could design and build just about anything that could be envisioned.
He was an artist as well as accomplished musician, who organized and played in several bands over the past two decades. Wherever he was, his guitar was always close by.
Cal lived life on his own terms. Though he struggled with personal issues, he never gave up. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother and stepfather, Jody and Bob Iler, Dubuque; brother, Jon Clinton Folman, Iowa City; step sister, Cheryl (Kurt) Iler-Geltz, Seattle; grandfather, Frank Hanson, Platteville, Wis.; uncle and aunt, John and Tracy Hanson, Danielsville, Penn.; uncle and aunt, Edward and Deborah Ryan, Simpsonville, S.C.; great aunt, Faye Folman, Lake Geneva, Wis.; cousins; many friends; and his dog, Milo.
Cal was welcomed into eternal life by his father, Frank W. Folman; grandfather, Frank R. Folman; grandmother, Elizabeth A. Hanson; great uncle, Richard Folman; and great-grandmother, Helen Folman.
Rest in peace, Cal. We love you.
Memorials for his family may be mailed to the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, who is assisting the family.
