David Joseph  Breitbach
David J. Breitbach, 60, of McGregor, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the UW Hospital and Clinics, Madison, WI as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 3 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m., Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, Dubuque and from 11:30- 12:15 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
David was born on February 17, 1957 in Dubuque, the son of Frank and Arlene (Ley) Breitbach.
On June 20, 1981 he married the love of his life, Victoria FitzPatrick at Nativity Catholic Church. They recently celebrated 36 years of marriage.
He attended Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Dubuque in 1982.
David was employed at a Dubuque based accounting firm until he joined Crossing Rivers Hospital, where he was currently CFO. For over 22 years he was active in implementing positive changes within the hospital. His co-workers became family, and he could not have reached his career goals without their support and friendship.
David was very involved in his community. He was currently serving as a Park Board Member for the City of McGregor. One of his favorite projects was creating what is now, Determination Park.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in McGregor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf with his friends, being outdoors and riding his motorcycle.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Victoria; children, Elizabeth (Gary) Graeser, of Independence, IA., David (Holly Lynch) Breitbach, of Dubuque, Christine (Christopher) Wildrick, of Ankeny, IA., Frank (Katie Backes) Breitbach, of Dubuque, Taylor (Jasmine “Ali” Goforth) Breitbach, of Clover, S.C. and his “adopted son”, Jeff Lenton, of Dubuque; grandchildren, Gabrielle Breitbach, Samuel and Nicole Graeser, Taylor Lily Breitbach, and Hailey, Paige and Megan Lynch; great- grandchild, Kai Rackers; siblings, Don (Nancy) Breitbach of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Larry (Fran) Breitbach and Carol Riekena both of Dubuque; Frank "Pedro" (Carol) Breitbach of Alamogordo, NM; Richard (Judy) Link of Farley, IA; Sue Link of Dyersville, IA; Charlie Link of Buena Vista, IA; Bob (Mary) Link of Colesburg, IA; Barb Coghlan and Bev (Bob) Hodgson both of Dyersville, IA; Judy (Dennis) Ellerbach, of Holy Cross, IA; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Jaeger of Earlville, IA; and in laws John (Kathy) FitzPatrick of Dubuque, Mary (Lenny) Droessler of Balltown, Lorna (Mike) Duvinski of Schwenksville, PA, Kathy (Richard) Hoffmann of Peosta, IA, Jim FitzPatrick of Dubuque, IA, Frank (Anissa) FitzPatrick of Marion, IA, Robert (Laura) Fitzpatrick, Michael (Angie) FitzPatrick, Thomas (Megan) FitzPatrick and Marty (Rachel) FitzPatrick all of Dubuque, IA; and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Arlene Breitbach- Link; step-father, Elmer Link; step- brother, Tommy Link; step-sister, Dianne Jaeger; sister-in-law, Joan Breitbach and brother-in-law, Ron Riekena.
