Condolence: I was saddened to learn of Father's death. I was in his class at Loras and we both graduated in 1950. He was a good friend of mine there and we met again when he was at Catholic University, and later in Dubuque/ I read, on 7 June 1975, his book The Cardinal Protectors for England: Rome and the Tudors Before the Reformation, and also , on 25 July 2008, read his book Dubuque on the Mississippi 1788-1988. He was indeed anornament to Loras and Iowa.

Condolence: Thank you to Fr William Wilkie for your love and devotion to your many passions, especially Loras College, the Dubuque Community, the disciplines of Historical Sciences, Music, the Catholic experience & Faith and so many others! My profound condolences to Father's family and friends in this period transition. In my opinion Father exemplified the concept of a Teacher in that he was a consummate devotee of the human experience and consumed his self to make sure we all grow through either the direct or indirect dissemination of his knowledge and research.

Condolence: Thank you to Father Wilkie for the many kindnesses he showed to my husband, David Salvaterra, and to me when we arrived in Dubuque. Father welcomed us into the Loras College Family and shared with us his wonderful cooking. Father also was responsible for my very first college teaching job. Sending prayers and thoughts your way.
