Martha C. “Marty” Benson, 85, formerly of Oak Park Place died Thursday, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services.

Our mother led an interesting life. She was born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. Marty married William Benson, her husband of 64 years, and together they lived in the United Kingdom, The Orient, and Puerto Rico before moving back to the States. They lived in the Midwest, on the East Coast, and retired to Florida, and later moved back to Dubuque to be closer to family.

Survivors include her husband William; their children James (Heidi) Benson of Neenah, WI, and Betsy (Dieter) Muhlack of Dubuque; grandchildren Dana (Kunal) Patel and Kelly (Shawn) Meinholz, Jacob Benson and William (Brooke) Muhlack; great grandchildren Asher and Dillon Patel and Arabella Meinholz; siblings William Cadzow, Helen Fisk, and Robert (Maureen) Cadzow; sister in law Nancy Irving; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Richard Benson; and grandson Todd Muhlack.
