Obituary for Gloria A Morris (Geisler)

Gloria A Morris (Geisler)
Gloria A Morris of Dubuque, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017.

Gloria was born on November 27, 1924 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to George T and Lillian A (Schmidt) Geisler. She married Thomas H. Morris on August 3, 1946 in Milwaukee, a marriage that truly stood the test of time, as they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last August.

During World War II, while Tom was at sea with the Coast Guard, Gloria aided the war effort by working as a radio technician at Wright Air Force Base. After the war, she took time to raise her young children. Then in the 1960s she and her husband started, owned and operated Tom Morris, Inc., an advertising agency on the outskirts of Chicago. Not only was Gloria then a full-time mother, she was also vice president and accountant for the company.

Tom and Gloria had three daughters. When asked to describe their mother, each states, without hesitation, “she was self-less.” Gloria truly lived the principle of ‘loving your neighbor as yourself.’ Besides working for their family business, you would always find Gloria giving of herself to others. Whether it be sewing clothes for her daughters; baking for friends and neighbors; nurturing their garden; singing for the church choir; or simply comforting those around her as they walk through a trial; she truly exemplified a lifestyle of giving. To those who knew her, her example will be a lasting legacy.

Surviving her is her husband, Tom; their children Judy (Kirk) Leoni of Weare, NH, Susan (Steve) Mill of Yarmouth Port, MA, and Jill (Steve) Carter of Mesa, AZ; and grandchildren Ben and Meredith Leoni, Meghan Mill (Drew Cameron), Lindsey (Daniel) Khamir, and Heather (Ivan) Valenzuela; and great-granddaughter, Emersyn Khamir.

Private family services will be held at Linwood Cemetery. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. To leave an online condolence, please visit egelhofsiegertcasper.com.
