Lester “Buddy” V. Miller Jr., 72, of Dubuque died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 7 pm at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Ghost Church.

Lester was born November 22, 1944 in Dubuque, son of Lester and Marion (Burnett) Miller Sr. He married Sonja “Sonnie” Ahlers on January 2, 1965 in Dubuque. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1999. He married Carol Boge on August 3, of 2004 in Dubuque.

Lester worked most of his career as a truck driver for Art Pape Transfer. After retiring, he owned and operated Miller Window and Screening.

He enjoyed being outside, either working in his garage, fishing, camping or golfing. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing (ripping them up) cards with family and friends, and being with his beloved dog, Lexi.

Lester is survived by his wife, Carol of Dubuque; four children, Michael (Lisa) Miller of Lancaster, WI., Mark Miller of Davenport, Rod (Sara Thilmany) Miller of Dubuque and Jody (Bob Mabe) Miller of Concord, OH.; three step-children, John (Jen Haile) Boge of Dubuque, Jeff (Tonya Ahlers) Boge of Dubuque and Renee (Raven Hohmann) Campbell of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Cory, Heather, Devon, Brooke and Kaity Miller; and three step grandchildren, Devyn, Austin and DJ Campbell; and Sophie Beecher.
He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Fluhr, Loretta “Cookie” Lesch, Lois (Tom) Becker and Donna Miller.

Lester was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Miller; sister, Eileen Hefel; and two brother in laws, Gene Fluhr and Jim Lesch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lester Miller Jr. Memorial Fund.
