Obituary for Edward Barud

Edward  Barud
Edward J. Barud, 87, of Dubuque died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Ennoble Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 9 at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, Illinois at a later date. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, where a wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Edward was born on January 21, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Stanley and Mary Ann (Kenar) Barud.
He married Lois Clarkin on August 8, 1953 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado.
Edward served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1955.
He graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Electrical Engineering and was employed by the municipal utility for the city of Lamar, Colorado followed by a long and satisfying career at Interstate Power Company from 1964 to 1994.
He enjoyed collecting model trains, traveling, bowling, golfing, and gardening. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 6, Dubuque Noon Lions Club, and Alliant Energy Retirees Iowa Group. He was a board member of Alliant Credit Union and active in Junior Achievement.
Surviving are his children, Edward (Kathy) Barud, John (Judy) Barud, Joan (Dan) Shannon, Kathrynne Barud and Janet (James) Gastineau; grandchildren, Lisa Tucker, Stephanie Hunziker, Patrick and Benjamin Barud, David Barud, Jennifer McGuire, Kathleen Wopat, Molly Johnson, Patrick, John, Mara, and Liam Shannon, Andrew and Sarah Gastineau; great- grandchildren, Daniel and Gabriel Gonzales, Noah Hunziker, Ellia, Maxum, and Lorel Barud, Emilie and Jacob Gensch, Jacob and Henry Barud, and Jonas and Stellan Wopat; and his sister, Joan Mas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Barud; grandson, Stephen Shannon and granddaughter, Laura Gastineau.
