William F  Weber
William F. Weber, 93 died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Stonehill Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 18 at St. Raphael Cathedral. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the American Legion, Post 6. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd where a wake service will begin at 6:30 p.m. A visitation will also be held from 9:30- 10:15 a.m., Saturday at the Church.
William was born on October 30, 1923 in Dubuque the son of Nicholas and Mathilda (Freiburger) Weber.
He served our country in the United States Army during WWII from June 14, 1943 – October 13, 1945. While in combat he was wounded in France on August 7, 1944 and in Luxemborg on December 7, 1944. He fought in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. On December 16, 1944 he became a POW in Germany and was liberated on April 2, 1945. William received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Four Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
William met his future wife, Anne Duggan at the Melody Mill Dance Hall in Dubuque. They were married in 1952. Many weekends were spent dancing, which was their favorite pastime.
William was employed at Flexsteel Industries as an upholsterer for 35 years.
Surviving are his children, Patricia Glider, of Epworth, IA, Steven (Elly) Weber, of Dubuque and Amy (Weber) Ostrander, of New Vienna, OH; grandchildren, Josh Glider, Ryan (Suzanne) Weber, Braydn (Marta) Weber, Jordan Weber, Collin Weber, Corey Weiner, Brianna Ostrander (fiancé Mike Perry), and Amber Ostrander; a step- granddaughter, Kara (Todd) Trentz; great- grandchildren, Mackenzy Weiner, Jayden Murphy, Paisley Pinkerton, Makoa Weber, Huxley Weber, Bailey and Emily Trentz; sisters, Marcella Konzen and Ione Smith; brothers-in-law, Don Duggan, Gene Ahman, Bill (Jane) Duggan and Clem Schmitt; sister-in-law, Mae Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne; parents; son-in-law, Steve Glider; brother, Nicholas Weber; sisters, Mathilda Beadle and Rosemary Schmitt; brothers-in-law, Dave Beadle, Louis Konzen, Tim Smith, Jack Duggan, and Don Elgin; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Duggan and Helen Ahman; and nephews, Dennis Beadle and Phillip Konzen.
