Loretta Clara Bahl, 92, of Dubuque died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 5:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday at the Church of the Resurrection. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Loretta was born November 1, 1924. She was the daughter of Leo and Lorraine (Stillmunkes) Siegert.

Loretta graduated from Dubuque Senior High School “Class of 42”. She was employed by Interstate Power Company and worked there until her marriage to Eldon J. “Bub” Bahl on November 23, 1944. They raised 3 sons Steven, Mark and Mike. Loretta and Bub operated a farm West of Dubuque. Loretta was very happy on their farm. She had a large garden to care for and special chores she did to help with the operation of the farm. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge and euchre. She was a member of several card clubs. She was an avid Cubs fan

Loretta was a volunteer at Resurrection church. She worked in the mail room, was a money counter and with the help of several ladies organized the first funeral dinners at the parish. She also helped gather pictures and information for the St. Philomena section of the Parish Directory. She was member of the prayer chain and enjoyed praying for those people in need of prayers.

Loretta’s greatest joy was her family. She loved all of those precious children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved family; sons and daughters in law, Steven and Sandy Bahl, Mark and Michelle Bahl, Mike and Julie Bahl; her grandchildren, Brian and Rhonda Bahl, Teri (Bahl) and Kartik Athreya, Reverend Greg E. Bahl, Eric and Paula Bahl, Jason and Becca Bahl, Russell Bahl, Justin Bahl, and Kelly Bahl. Her precious great-grandchildren Uma, Suryan and Skanda Athreya, Jacob and Regan Bahl, Logan, Kellan and Payton Bahl. She is also survived by her sister Marlene Brimeyer, her brother Robert Siegert, and sister-in-law Betty Tigges.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon J. “Bub” Bahl, her parents Leo and Lorraine Siegert, her brothers and sister in law, Arnold and June Siegert and Al Siegert, her sisters and brothers in law LaVina and Bob Kleis and Sally and George Reavell, her sister-in-law, Virginia Siegert, her brother-in-law LaVerne Brimeyer and her in-laws George and Mary Bahl and all of their family.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Resurrection Church or Hospice.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Christine Sinsky and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
