Ardeth M  Kirschbaum (Haberichter)
Ardeth M. Kirschbaum, 87, of Dubuque passed from her earthly home into God’s eternal home on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Luther Manor, surrounded by her children. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where visitation will also be held Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Guttenberg City Saturday at 2:45 pm.
Ardeth was born May 28, 1929 in LaPorte City, Iowa, daughter of Edna Haberichter.
On July 26, 1947, she married the love of her life, Don C. Kirschbaum in LaPorte City, Iowa. Their marriage lasted 69 years, until his passing on November 21, 2016.
Ardeth went back to school with four young children at home; graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Dubuque with a degree in education.
Education was a passion of Ardeth’s, and she touched many lives teaching at Kennedy Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Retired Teachers Association and Busy Bee Circle.
After retirement, Ardeth and Don enjoyed spending the winters in Florida where she tended to her beautiful flowers.
She is survived by four children, Timothy (Renee) Kirschbaum of Marion, Ill., Diane (Bill) Welsh of Cedar Rapids, Barbara (Brian) Munson of Dubuque and Lora (Kenneth) Goedken of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren, Jared (Ali), Joel and Anna Kirschbaum; Alissa, Will and Christopher Welsh; Mallory (Craig) Fraaken, Jacob (Tricia) and Carl Munson; and Amanda (Michael) Shoemaker, Zachary and Nathan (Kayla) Goedken; six great grandchildren; a brother, Duane (Kay) Haberichter of Oskaloosa, Iowa and their children; and a brother in law, Don Schlotfelt of Cedar Rapids and his children.
She was also preceded in death by her mother, her special sister, Maryann Schlotfelt and a great grandson.
