Obituary for Mathias O Hansen (Hansen)
Mathias O. “Mo” Hansen, 83, of Asbury, Iowa died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Luther Manor.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20 at Summit Congregational UCC, where a visitation will be held after 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Mathias was born on September 13, 1933 the son of Hans and Grace (Gordon) Hansen.
He married Shirley Offenheiser on May 24, 1953 in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Mathias served our country in the United States Army. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1959.
Music was his passion. Later in life he joined the Music Men of Dubuque where he was a member for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Elizabeth Hansen, of Worester, MA., Greg (Lisa) Hansen, of Dubuque and Catherine (Stephen) Hansen Shires, of Waterbury Center, VT; grandchildren, Sarah Shires, Alaina Shires, Nathaniel Shires, Jacob Hansen, and Kaitlin “Katie” Hansen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Hans C. Hansen and John Hansen; and his sister, Meta Parker.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, Summit Congregational UCC or the Music Men of Dubuque.
