Adelaide M  Diefenthaler (Mueller)
Adelaide M. (Adele) Diefenthaler, 89 of Dubuque, IA died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sat., Dec. 10 at the Church of the Resurrection where visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
Adele was born May 8, 1927 in Darlington, WI, daughter of John and Emma (Weibel) Mueller Sr. She graduated from Darlington High School. Adele married the love of her life, Peter Diefenthaler Sr. on September 25, 1949. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Farm life gave Adele an appreciation for hard work, gardening, and animals, especially horses and cats. She enjoyed boating, gardening, reading, and raising Persian cats. As an avid Packer fan, she took pleasure in following her beloved Packers and attending spring training camps.
As a 49 year breast cancer survivor, she volunteered at the American Cancer Society and provided inspiration and support to many women.
Survivors include her two sons, Dave (Judy) Diefenthaler, Madison, WI and Pete (Vickie) Diefenthaler, Bettendorf, IA; two grandchildren, Sarah (Kyle) Kravick, Portage, WI and Andy Diefenthaler, Madison, WI; four great grandchildren: Taylor, Lyndsey, Calvin, and Ian; a sister-in-law, Betha Mueller, and nieces and nephews.
Adele was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years (Peter Sr.), two brothers, Alfred and John Jr. Mueller, and her parents.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
