Obituary for Shirley L Carpenter (Collier)
Shirley L. Carpenter, 69, of Dubuque, formerly of Newfoundland, Canada, was called home on November 24, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
To honor Shirley’s life, funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 28 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Rd, with the Pastor Tom Jack officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
Shirley was born on August 17, 1947 in Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Charles H. and Elizabeth (Samms) Collier. She married Edward H. Carpenter Sr. in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada on April 23, 1966.
Shirley was employed with the Dubuque Community School District and was a CNA at Heritage Manor. She sold Avon and enjoyed sewing and doing arts and crafts. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and friends. She also loved to feed the animals outside her home.
Surviving are her children, Shawn (Nicole) Carpenter, Edward (Ronda) Carpenter Jr., both of Dubuque; 4 grandchildren, Cassie, Nathan, Nicholas, and Taylor Carpenter of Dubuque; and her special friend, Kenneth Heim Sr.
She was loved by her 6 brothers and 19 sisters, all of Canada.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, and her son in infancy.
