Jan J. Glew, 79, of Dubuque died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at home. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm Monday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Jan was born January 25, 1937 in Farley, Iowa, son of Everett and Myrtle (Theilan) Glew, Sr. He married Patricia Harris on June 13, 1959 at Nativity Church. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2010.
Jan worked for Northwestern Bell for 26 years, retiring in 1980. He loved fishing and hunting and was a member of Dubuque Bird Dog Club, Communication Workers of America, and Telephone Pioneers Dubuque Chapter. He was also an avid Packers and Cubs fan.
He is survived by three children, Kathy (Dennis) Klein of Dubuque, Steven Glew of Dubuque and Scott (Christina) Glew of Three Forks, Montana; five grandchildren, Tim Palmer, Cindy (Eric) Nierling, and Sam, Adam, and Edith Glew, all of Dubuque; two great grandsons, Clay and Dakota Nierling; three brothers, Gary, Bruce and Mike Glew.
He is also preceded in death by a brother, Everett “Sonny” Glew and a sister, Gloria “Sis” Fox.
