Harold P. Ambrosy, 93, of Dubuque died Saturday, September 24, 2016. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Tuesday at the Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 pm Wednesday at Holy Spirit Parish-Holy Ghost Church with Fr. Dave Ambrosy Celebrating. Entombment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Dubuque Post #6.
Harold was born September 14, 1923 in St. Donatus, Iowa, son of Nick and Josephine (LeConte) Ambrosy. On October 23, 1956, He married Ruth Ploessl at Holy Rosary Church, La Motte.
He proudly served his country in the US Army during WW II, spending some of his service in the Philippines. On May 17, 2010, he was honored to be on the first Honor Flight of Greater Dubuque. He was a member of American Legion Dubuque Post 6.
Before his retirement, Harold worked as a machinist for the Adams Company for 40 years. He was a member of Machinist Union Local 1238.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish where he volunteered for Holy Ghost Bingo for 40 years.
Harold is survived by his wife, Ruth Ambrosy of Dubuque; and in laws, Marie Ambrosy of Dubuque, Helen and Windy Kalmes of St. Donatus, Mary Lou Heinricy of Dubuque, Sylvester and Wilma Ploessl of Dubuque, Cyril and Marilyn Ploessl of Bellevue, Larry and Linda Ploessl of Farley and Rosalie Ploessl of Bellevue and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and her husband, Bernice and Tony Schiessl, five brothers, Sylvester and his wife Elizabeth, Vincent, Merlin, Ralph and Lavern Ambrosy; and in laws, Roger Heinricy, Art Ploessl, Judy Herrig Nemmers, Ed Herrig and Leonard Nemmers.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Drs.
