Joan Clara Frye (Hafeman)
Joan C. Frye, 86, of Dubuque, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family members on July 16, 2016, at Stonehill Care Center. A Mass in celebration of Joan’s life will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 20 at Holy Spirit Parish -Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Aaron Junge presiding. Friends may greet the family from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19 at at Egelhof Siegert Casper Westview Funeral Home & Crematory, 2659 JFK Road, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Joan was born July 11, 1930 in Dubuque, the daughter of Rudy and Clara (Ries) Hafeman. She attended Sacred Heart School and Immaculate Conception Academy. She married George Frye on February 26, 1949, at Sacred Heart Church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. Her life as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother inspired her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, George; daughters Kay (Jim) Brimeyer and Gail (Dick) Bridges, both of Dubuque; six grandchildren: Joe (Amy) Brimeyer of Federal Way, WA; Ellen (Luke) Schardt, Kelly (Bill) King, Tim and Katie McFarland, all of Dubuque; Dan McFarland (Jody) of Davenport; and ten great-grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Mildred Reding, Ida Rusch, and Betty Welchert; and her brothers Leonard, Irvin, Kenneth, and Walter Hafeman.
In lieu of flowers, a Joan Frye Memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Sullivan and his staff, Stonehill Care Center, and Hospice of Dubuque for the loving care they extended to Joan. The family also appreciates all of Joan’s loving and caring friends.
