Marie D Perry
Marie D. Perry 86, of Stonehill Care Center and formerly of 1843 Adair St. and Applewood Village, passed away peacefully Monday, November 30, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 Thursday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Rd.
Marie was born on December 3, 1928 in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of James and Celia (Griffin) Collins. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1947. In February 1962, Marie married Robert V. Perry at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1995. Marie spent her early years growing up on the farm north of Waukon. She later moved to Dubuque and worked as a nurse's aid at Xavier Hospital. Marie was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking up her old recipes. She also liked to go visit her sister Stella in the summer in Waukon so she could be back on the farm. In her retirement years, she enjoyed shopping and taking bus trips with her friends at Applewood. Marie spent the last few years at Stonehill Care Center where she loved to play cards, bingo and go play slot machines - always saying that she had won.
Surviving are her three sons, Jim of Peosta, IA, Paul (Michelle) of Pottsboro, TX and John (Tina) of Dubuque; her six grandchildren Samantha, Austin, Alex, Jordan, Libby and Brant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her sister Stella Hammel and four brothers; James, Elmer, John and Robert Collins.
A Marie D. Perry memorial fund has been established.
Marie's family would like to thank all of the fantastic people that have looked out for Marie over the years both at Applewood and Stonehill Care Center.
