Obituary for Michael Vandermillen
Michael T. Vandermillen, 78, of 1265 S. Grandview Ave. passed away on November 1, 2015 at UnityPoint Health- The Finley Hospital. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Michael was born on July 2, 1937 in Cascade, Iowa the son of Henry and Veronica (Noonan) Vandermillen. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1956 and attended Loras College.
He was a proud member of the Marine Corps serving from 1956 to 1958.
He married Mary Ann Dew- Brittain on March 18, 1961.
He was a cement mason before entering the car business as a salesman. He started working for Roshek-Doss and sold for several dealerships over the years, retiring from Anderson-Weber.
He touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He will be remembered for his friendly nature and the love he had for his home and family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann; a son, Thomas (Namiko) of Glendale, CA.; a daughter, Amy (Barry ) Descheneaux of Ann Arbor, MI.; two grandsons, David Descheneaux of Santa Monica, CA and Alex Descheneaux of Sherman Oaks, CA.; three brothers, Jim and Joe of Dubuque and Don of Bonita Springs, FL.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edmund and Raymond; and a sister Marguerite Callahan.
A Michael T. Vandermillen memorial fund has been established.
