Eugene L. "Gene" Robey, 62, of Dubuque, lost his battle with diabetes on September 17, 2015. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where visitation will be held from 2 to 6 pm Sunday. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Eugene was born March 8, 1953 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Stan and Bernice (Peterson) Robey. He worked for nearly 30 years at North End Auto Wrecking. He went on to work for Holy Family Catholic Schools for 12 years.
He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed stock car races, owned a stock car for many years, and loved racing at area tracks. He later became an avid fan and watched many races.
He is survived by two brothers, Stan "Butch" Robey, Jr. , and Dean Robey ; a sister, Beverly (Maurice) Schwendinger ; nieces Jennifer (Warren) Kizer, Stacy (Scott) Tatum, and Mackenzie and Kristina Robey; a nephew, Jason Robey; three great nieces and two great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
