Obituary for Bettymae Thompson (Thompson)

Bettymae Thompson, 82, of Dubuque died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Heritage Manor. Funeral services will be 4 pm Wednesday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory 2659 Kennedy road where visitation will be held Wednesday from 1 pm until time of service. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.
Bettymae was born March 9, 1932 in Dubuque, daughter of L.E. "Earl" and Freda (Mauer) Thompson. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and Bayless Business College.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the Telegraph Herald for 17 years and Kretschmer-Tredway for 23 years. She then worked as a representative-payee coordinator for the Department of Elder Affairs for four years.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she held many offices. She taught swimming for 40 years and first aid for 25 years for the American Red Cross and volunteered at the Dubuque Arboretum Visitor Center for 17 years.
She is survived by a sister in law, Karen Thompson, Nieces and nephews, Julie Thompson Lahr, James (Lynn) Thompson, Terrance (Donna) Thompson, and GlenNiece (Jon) Kutsch and several great and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Thompson.
Memorials may be made to Dubuque Arboretum and St. John Lutheran Church.
