Eileen M. Oyen, 98, Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Dubuque, Iowa and Lady Lake, Fla., passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Anthony’s Church. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road is assisting the family.
Eileen was born on November 19, 1916 in Jamestown Township of Grant County, WI, daughter of Ralph and Matilda (Jacobi) Northaus.
She married Melvin F. Oyen on November 14, 1939 at Immaculate Conception Church, Kieler, WI. They lived in Dubuque until 1986 when they moved to Lady Lake, FL. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2000.
Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to work on multiple craft projects and to play cards.
Surviving are two sons, Gerald (Peg) Oyen of Medford, N.J. and Kenneth Oyen of Liberty, Mo.; one daughter, Joyce (Eric) Schmidt of Leesburg, Fla.; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Marion Wallenhorst of Platteville, Wis.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ernzen; a brother, Ervin Northaus; a sister, Martha Tranel; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Oyen.
