Obituary for Barbara M Zahren (Bott)
Barbara M. Zahren, 85, of Dubuque passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 11 at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 JFK Road.
Barbara was born on August 15, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Marie (Thimmesch) Bott.
She graduated from the Visitation Academy and was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
On November 24, 1951 she married Robert Zahren at Nativity Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2013.
For many years Barbara gave her time to volunteering at the concession stands at sporting events at Senior High School. In 1990 she was presented the Rams Booster Club Service Award for outstanding dedication and service.
She always looked forward to going on lunch dates, shopping trips, and loved family outings with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Barbara was a kind, giving and wonderful person who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her children, Mike (Pam) Zahren, and their children, Amy (Jeff) Pfeiler, Corey (Jenny) LuGrain and Kaycee; Carol (Clifford) Wyatt, and their children, Shavonne and Jalessa; Judy (Mike) Kalb, all of Dubuque; six great- grandchildren, Olivia, Ella, Grace, Addison, Nick, and Jack; her brother, William Bott; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her twin brother, Robert Bott.
A Barbara Zahren memorial fund has been established.
