Obituary for Mary A Jones (Yuratis)

Our sweet mom Mary A. Jones, 88, of 2150 Pasadena Dr., formerly of 3015 Shiras Ave. passed away on Oct 15, 2013 at Heritage Manor. Several of her family members were by her side as she slipped away, totally at peace that Jesus Christ would now have her in his care.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection with the Rev. Gary Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.
Mom was born in Northampton, Pa on August 22, 1925 to Joseph and Anna Yurasits. She married Jack C. Jones of Dubuque on April 19, 1945. He preceded her in death on Jan 21, 2008.
She was a foster grandparent at Audabon School for 25 years and was awarded the Governors Volunteer Award in 2012.
Although in the past few months her body began to fade, her wit, her wisdom, her concern for those around her and her love for her family did not waiver. In her 88 years, Mom showed us how to love and how to make the best of anything. She always added an extra loving touch from the food she prepared to the presents she would give, to the beautiful items she would crochet…anything that she did with a needle…every stitch was made with great love. Her pies were also made with love and were rated No. 1 in our family! Her concern in the past few months was that she needed to get better so she could make pies for the family Thanksgiving. When she realized that would be a task she couldn’t do, she took comfort in knowing she had passed her pie making skill on to her 11 year old granddaughter Emily. Thanksgiving would be taken care of!
She is survived by three sons. John Jones of Idaho, and his children and their mother (Gail Miller) of Cranberry, PA: Amy Pierce of Rochester PA, Greg and (Mirna) Miller of Murrieta, CA. Jim (Theresa) Jones of Monte Vista, CO., and his children Hannah (Dan) Wizner of Berlin, WI and Zach (Dayna) of Wahiaw, HI. Jeff (Karen) Jones of Dubuque and their sons Matt (Chelsea) of Jacksonville, NC and Nick Jones of Dubuque. She is also survived by two daughters. Carol (Burny) Foht of Dubuque and their daughters; Janel (Warren) Graham of Port Washington, WI, and Holly (Ryan) Conger of Providence, UT. Chris (Dave) Lindgreen of Dubuque and their daughters Anita and Emily.
Also surviving are her great grandchildren, Lydia and Violet Conger; Ella, Sophia and Chloe Graham, Antoinette and Anthony Miller, Braxton and Paisley Jones and Hannah Wizner. And out of “everybody”…WE were all her “favorite!”
She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, two step sisters Elizabeth Nagy and Anna Balke of Tobyhanna, PA, and her niece Joannie Kaplan.
The family is most grateful to the staff at Heritage Manor for their kindness and care for their mom and for Dr. Caceres and Dr. Steffens for compassionate, wise counsel and medical care and Hospice of Dubuque for the work they do.
